Description

Lancaster Bible College is seeking an adjunct professor to teach the introductory college-level Writing for the Web course for the 2013-14 academic year. This course is housed in the Communication: Media Writing major of the Arts & Sciences Department.

This course will investigate various means of writing on the web. Analysis through a biblical worldview of web writing formats such as blogs, wikis, and social media will introduce students to specific writing conventions and their potential for social impact. Content creation, not computer programming or coding, will be stressed in this course. Web writing skills will be applied through message development, design, and publication for the web. Critical thinking will be applied to critique a variety of published web content based on how online communities create, disseminate, and evaluate messages.

Successful candidates will also have the opportunity to present additional Communication elective course ideas for consideration (commensurate with their professional experience).

Candidates will meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum of a BA in Communication or related field is required
  • An MA in Communication or a related field is preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Web Design or Web-based Writing is required
  • Higher education teaching experience is preferred

Preference is given to those who can teach between the hours of 8 am and 3 pm.

Interested and qualified candidates should submit the following: cover letter; resume; and spiritual testimony to humanresources@lbc.edu.
