Lancaster Bible College Library
The library is a busy central hub of our campus. Students come here to do research, pick up books, print or copy documents, study and socialize. The library can borrow books and secure copies of articles for students and personnel from other libraries via interlibrary loan, whenever needed.
Our library is also open to alumni and to the community. LBC alumni are eligible for a free library card and community patrons can obtain a library card for a $25 annual fee. The licenses for our electronic resources allow non-students complete access while on-site in the library.
Resources & Services
- Our library staff is always available to help you find a particular book or help you research a particular topic.
- The LBC Library holds more than 290,000 items, including over 101,000 electronic books. We have more than 43,000 periodical titles in electronic and paper formats.
- We provide online access to all our databases and catalogs through our library portal.
- We recently added the Christian Library of Lancaster's resources to our library. You can access that catalog online as well.
We're Moving!
The Lancaster Bible College Library will be moving to its new location in the Student Learning Commons during the summer of 2012. This is an exciting and challenging time as we prepare for this momentous event. As with all such changes, there will be temporary inconvenience on the way to lasting improvement.
Both the current library and the Student Learning Commons will be closed to all patrons from May 14, 2012 to July 31, 2012. A temporary library will be open during this time in the Sebastian Academic Complex (Room SAC 105). The Sebastian Academic Complex is located across the driveway from the current library’s main entrance.
The outside book drop (located in the door on the south side of the current library building) will still be available for after-hours use.
Services & Equipment Available at the Temporary Library:
- Retrieval of materials for borrowing (see more information below)
- Reserve materials, as requested by faculty, for summer courses
- Online catalog and database searching
- Student computer use
- Printer
- Photocopier
- Interlibrary loan for students and faculty
- Research assistance, by appointment
- Some children’s books housed in bins
While occupying the temporary library, we will not be able to accept any book donations nor will we be able to operate a book sale.
Retrieval Service at Temporary Library:
The library’s online catalog will be available for searching in the temporary library and at library.lbc.edu. If you would like to borrow materials, this is what you need to know:
- There is a limit of 10 retrieval items per family.
- A retrieval service will run from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday –Friday.
Option 1: You can come to the temporary library, search the catalog, and wait for a library staff member to go to the appropriate building and retrieve the materials for you.
Option 2: If you know the exact titles and authors you want, you can phone the temporary library with that information at 717-560-8250. Let us know what time you are coming to pick up your items and we will have them waiting for you at the temporary library.
Option 3: You can send an e-mail list of the exact titles and authors you want to borrow to circdesk@lbc.edu. Let us know what time you are coming to pick up your items and we will have them waiting for you at the temporary library.
The retrieval service will end at 4:30 pm Monday-Friday but you can pick up your items until each day’s closing time. There will be no retrieval service on Saturdays but you can pick up previously reserved items.
NOTE: There may be times during the move when parts of the collection are unavailable for retrieval.
