Purpose

In 1967, LBC converted the old gym into the library. It wasn't meant to be permanent, but it turned out that way. However, with the increasing enrollment numbers that we have been blessed with, we have now outgrown it. But all that has changed. Lancaster Bible College is seeking to raise $10 million for the the Peter and Paulette Teague Student Learning Commons a facility that is the ultimate gathering place, the social and technological hub, the living heartbeat of the campus.

In our building design, students are able to walk in, grab a coffee at the café, get a book, and relax in an inviting, collaborative learning space filled with natural light. In the core of the Commons is the Charlie and Gloria Jones library, housing our current collection of over 200,000 volumes. There are small conference rooms, classrooms, computer rooms, offices, and all the technology needed to power a new world of digital books, electronic periodicals and online learning that lets adult learners earn their degree from anywhere in the world, anytime day or night.

Upstairs are the resources needed by today's students for tutoring, academic mentoring, and the writing center. Additionally, this building houses the Oswald Chambers Reading Room, the only one of its kind in the United States housing the Oswald Chambers Collection of our friend, Charlie "Tremendous" Jones.

While God's Word never changes, the delivery method does. The Student Learning Commons helps LBC continue to deliver the Word of God to students' hearts and minds for decades to come.
