Christmas Celebration Concert

Lancaster Bible College and Graduate School will host its annual Christmas Celebration, open to the public, on Friday, November 30 at 7 pm and Saturday, December 1 at 2 pm and 7 pm in the Good Shepherd Chapel, on the campus at 901 Eden Road, Lancaster. Directed by professors Daniel Hollingsworth and Robert Bigley, the Christmas Celebration features the LBC Chorale, Chamber Singers, Orchestra and the newly formed Lancaster Co. Jazz Company.  This year’s theme is “A Tapestry of Nations,” an intricately woven tapestry of voices and instruments, celebrating the traditions of the many peoples and tongues of Lancaster County, all united by the glow of Christmas joy.

Dr. Peter Teague, president, notes “this is a gift of music to our community, reflecting our desire to be a positive Christian influence in the Greater Lancaster area by providing educational, cultural, and spiritual activities for the community.”

Brian Walter, professional actor, will help to narrate a humorous and charming look at our ethnic diversity.  Renee and Alicia Poorman, sharing music from their New England native American heritage and Jonatán and Miriam Recamán from Spain, will be two of several student, ethnic musical highlights. Classical Christmas gems, swinging 1940s Big Band, jazzy Brazilian lullabies, traditional Christmas carols – from European to South American, Moravian to Russian, this unique concert will weave together musical interpretations from around the world – many languages, many traditions – all celebrating the season.

The event is free, but tickets are required. Call 717.560.8219 to reserve tickets or for more information.
