Meet the Director
Dr. William R. Burrichter, M.Ed.

Director, School Counseling Programs

Dr. Burrichter has been an adjunct faculty member at LBC since 2003, and he provides part-time leadership for our school counseling programs. He serves as a school counselor at Pequea Valley High School. Dr. Burrichter received his master's degree in Counseling and Human Resources from Villanova University and his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Walden University.

Master of Education (Secondary School Counseling)

Purpose

The Secondary School Counseling program at Lancaster Bible College is designed to provide training that will give entry-level qualifications for secondary school guidance counseling opportunities, state licensure and public school certification.

Admission Requirements

  • Accepted Jesus Christ as personal Savior
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Transcript of undergraduate studies with GPA of 3.00 or higher
  • Major in Bible or completion of Bible Entrance Courses
  • Autobiographical statement
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Completed application and fee
  • Interview with program director

Program Design

The M.Ed. program is designed for the part-time student. Consequently, most courses meet either Friday night or Saturday during the fall and spring semesters. In addition, modular courses are offered in early January and throughout the summer months. Most students are able to complete the program in four years, with five years being the maximum time allowed.

Program Outcomes

The Master of Education programs are designed:

  • To provide training in the essential areas of vocational guidance, social and developmental issues, curriculum management, and crisis intervention.
  • To orient the student to the secondary school guidance counselor’s role and to school guidance counseling systems.
  • To create within the student the ability to conduct critical thinking skills to evaluate theory and practice from a biblical perspective.
  • To provide an emphasis on application of information and knowledge by means of supervised school guidance counseling experiences.
  • To develop the student's knowledge of the foundational elements in counseling theory and research to prepare students for further study.
