Computer Network Connection Policy
Lancaster Bible College provides computer network connections in all dorm rooms and many other locations throughout the campus. Use of this network is subject to the terms and conditions listed below.

By connecting a computer to the network, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions listed below. If you do not wish to accept and be bound by these terms and conditions, you may not connect a computer to the network.

Terms and Conditions

  1. The network may only be accessed by those authorized by the College. You must either have a network account or specific permission from the College to connect to the network. All registered students are automatically assigned a network account.
  2. Use of the network is subject to the Computer Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) as published in the Student Handbook.
  3. It is your responsibility to maintain your computer in good working condition. The College is responsible for maintaining the network only.
  4. Your use of the network must not adversely affect any other user's use of the network, nor the College's ability to maintain the network.
  5. You may only connect a personal computer to the network. Use of any other personal device, switch, router, print server, wireless access point, etc., is prohibited.
  6. It is your responsibility to ensure that your computer is free of viruses, worms or any other software or programs that could affect the integrity of the network.
    1. You are required to have the College's anti-virus software installed and running, and have it configured to check for and download updates daily. The college provides anti-virus software to students at no additional cost.
    2. You are required to keep your operating system patched with the latest updates from the manufacturer.
  7. If the college network's integrity is compromised as a result of your computer having a virus, worm, faulty hardware, faulty software or compromised operating system, your network access will be terminated without notice, and you will lose access to your files, your e-mail and the internet. Before you can re-connect to the network, you will need to remove any viruses or worms from your system, install and properly configure anti-virus software, and make sure your operating system patches are up to date. In addition, you will be required to have your computer certified by the Student Helpdesk Center. They will verify that you have removed all viruses and worms, that you have installed anti-virus software, and that you have properly patched your operating system.
  8. The College reserves the right to view and log all network usage. To protect the network and authorized users, the College reserves the right to terminate any connection or service or take any other action it deems necessary to protect the network without notification to the user, including fines in cases where the network's integrity is compromised.
