Christian Service Stories
At LBC, our students enjoy sharing their love of God through local outreach activities. These valuable experiences help to prepare our students for their journey to find their calling, their purpose in life.
Read stories that demonstrate the powerful impact LBC students are making in our community.
- This was my first experience at the Water Street
Rescue Mission. Dan gave me a tour of the behind-the-scenes stuff that goes on at the mission. Then, as a team we sorted through clothing. At the end, we realized that even though we were not out in the open where people can see us doing work, we are making a huge difference to people even behind the scenes. GOD IS GREAT! – Josh - This week I was on the detention side (Juvenile
Detention Center) with one girl. I played a game with her and prayed for her. I also explained to her that the reason we go visit them is because we love her and so does Jesus. – Annamarie - I talked to a man named Bob at Evergreen
(Retirement Community). It was a unique experience because he had Alzheimer's. It made me think of how it would feel for my family if I were to be that way in my old age. It was an eye-opener of sorts. – Joe - I talked to a girl on Hopeline that broke up with
her boyfriend after he cheated on her. She had lived with him for 2 years and knew that she wasn't doing things the way God wanted. Unfortunately, I don't think she listened to my advice. It's hard when you get people that are so set in their ways that they refuse to change even though they want to. – Faithe - This week was the Imani worship night. Everyone
could feel the Holy Spirit with us while we were singing. There was a great turnout and many people gave prayer requests in our box. Now our group has a chance to pray together for these people. We hope to see more people drawing closer to God! – Jason - Last Monday at the Factory, one of the leaders
shared a powerful and touching message about the Fatherhood of God. Many people were drawn to tears when they heard this. It was a night when God's presence was truly visible in this youth center. – Ed - I participated in the Hopeline for the past two
weeks on Sunday nights. I really was not feeling worthy to help people. I think that with the Lord, there will be growth in these areas. – Kyle - I think there are some teens that are really
starting to "get it" when it comes to God and what it means to have a relationship with him! It's encouraging to see them grow! – Steph - I shoveled on LBC's campus Saturday morning.
Helping out the physical plant was much appreciated and was satisfying work. – Alan - The one guy I talked to was having relationship
problems with his mom. We talked about what the mature thing to do would be, and how God expects us to honor and respect our parents, even when it seems they are not always fair or right. – Liz - This week I talked to a girl who was depressed
because her parents were getting a divorce. I got to talk to her about how God loves her and encourage her through prayer. – Kathleen
