The mission of the Sport Management program is to equip and prepare students with professional knowledge, skills and ethics from a biblical worldview to become leaders in the discipline of sport management and coaching while effectively seeking to build relationships to share a personal faith with a diverse world.
The purpose of the Sport Management program at Lancaster Bible College (LBC) is to prepare men and women to enter the sport management field able to think and interact biblically with professional and ethical qualities, knowledge and operational skills showing a ministry mindset to the participants. These students will be prepared to organize, administer and facilitate sport programs at the corporate, agency, professional, amateur and non-profit settings.
Students receive field service experience each year they are enrolled at LBC. These field service opportunities are key to the students’ educational experience as it is where they put into practice what they have learned in the classroom. Internships may include working with professional sports organizations, college and high school athletic departments, recreational departments, churches, and sport ministry organizations performing functions including facility management, sport promotion and marketing, sport media, customer or community relations, sport sponsorship, licensing, sport information, and coaching.
This major prepares you for careers in professional sports, college athletics, amateur sports, youth sports, a sports-related position with corporation, or sports ministry. You will leave with a variety of practical “hands on” experince and professional skills to organize, administrate, and facilitate sports programs at corporate, agency, professional, and amateur levels.
