Job Description:

This position exists for the purpose of teaching undergraduate level courses in the area of Science and, more specifically, in the area of the Natural Sciences.

Candidates will meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum of an MS in Physical sciences, particularly Physics, Astronomy, Geology, or Science Education; PhD is preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years of higher educational teaching experience
  • Experience designing and/or setting up group laboratory experiments
  • A demonstrated ability to coordinate and assess team projects
  • A positive reputation as a scholar and educator
  • A well-articulated creation worldview
  • A well-articulated philosophy of education

Candidates will need to possess the following skills:

  • An ability to teach a wide range of science courses, such as Physics, Astronomy, or Geology, both in lecture and laboratory formats
  • An ability to work with colleagues on corporate projects
  • Exhibit a high degree of professionalism while motivating and educating students in an engaging manner concerning science and a biblical worldview
  • Proficiency as a communicator in written and oral formats
  • Proficiency with general computer skills
  • An ability to design instruction
  • An ability to develop new courses
  • An ability to assess the overall success of courses
  • A desire to mentor students outside the classroom

Candidates will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Teach Science courses and engage in academic research
  • Required full-time teaching load is 4/4
  • Work in concert with the Science Coordinator who oversees all science offerings at LBC
  • Complete assessment documentation for Science courses taught each year
  • Participate in Arts and Sciences department meetings and activities
  • Participate on assigned faculty committee(s)
  • Maintain at least 10 office hours weekly for student and faculty consultation and support
