Assistant/Associate Professor of Voice

Full time, 9-month Faculty

Location: Lancaster, PA

 

This position exists for the purpose of teaching undergraduate level studio voice and related courses.

Candidates will meet the following requirements:

Required:

  • Master’s degree in voice
  • Demonstrable performance artistry and teaching experience in classical, musical theatre, and commercial/contemporary vocal styles
  • A well-articulated understanding of the integration of the Christian faith and artistic endeavor
  • A well-articulated philosophy of education

Preferred:

  • Tenor, baritone, or bass
  • ABD or completed doctorate in voice and/or vocal pedagogy
  • Piano skills for basic accompaniment of students; preference will be given to candidates with strong keyboard skills and coaching experience
  • Demonstrable knowledge of vocal anatomy and physiology
Candidates will need to possess the following skills:
  • An ability to work collaboratively
  • Exhibit a high degree of professionalism while motivating and educating students in an engaging manner concerning music and a biblical worldview
  • Proficiency as a communicator in written and oral formats
  • An ability to design instruction
  • An ability to develop new courses
  • An ability to assess the overall success of courses
  • A desire to mentor students outside the classroom
Candidates will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Teach undergraduate studio voice to performance, musical theatre, music education, and worship arts students
  • Teach other voice-related courses (e.g. Vocal pedagogy, diction, and vocal literature)
  • Maintain an active portfolio of creative activities in vocal performance and/or vocal pedagogy
  • Active recruitment of potential vocal majors
  • Other teaching service duties as assigned by the Chair, based on the candidate’s strengths and departmental needs
