This position exists for the purposes of providing leadership, administration, and teaching within the Doctor of Ministry.

Education and Experience: 

  • Doctoral or other terminal degree in teaching discipline, or qualification for faculty appointment by virtue of scholarly or professional achievement
  • Full-time ministry experience or appropriate experience related to the academic discipline area
  • Experienced in teaching in online and/or blended delivery modes
  • Recognized contribution through teaching and writing or the potential for such a contribution
  • A positive reputation as an educator, practitioner, and communicator

Academic Discipline
– to provide academic instruction in the field of Ministry Studies

  • Able to teach in one or more of the cognate fields of leadership, education, or discipleship duties (i.e. Pastoral Studies, Chaplaincy Studies, Leadership Studies, Higher Education Leadership, Formational Studies, Emotional Health, etc.)
  • Able to provide praxis level application of one’s knowledge of the cognate field to the church, para-church, chaplaincy, missions, school, clinical governmental, military, or human service context.
  • Skilled in teaching in a blended and online learning environment. Highly energized by these modes of ministry training and context delivery.


Special Skills
– to apply professional and/or technical tasks to the job responsibilities

  • An ability to teach and design student learning opportunities for a variety of delivery modalities including face-to-face, online, and hybrid/blended learning.
  • The ability to work in a team context within the Department of Church & Ministry Leadership.
  • Skilled in teaching adult learners.
  • A demonstrated pattern of balancing practical ministry with academia as a reflective practitioner.
  • The ability to recruit prospective students and present graduate programs in a clear and compelling manner.
  • The ability to speak publicly on behalf of the College in spiritual or professional groups as required.

Job Tasks – to determine specific tasks require of the position

Faculty Member (50%)

  • Teaching: Develop and teach graduate level courses (12 credits per year)
  • Assessing: Design assessments of student learning and programmatic progress
  • Oversee Cohort or Advising: Service as an academic advisor for students as assigned
  • Serve: Serve on academic committees for the development and support of the Seminary and Graduate School and its curriculum
  • Recruit: Promote and recruit students for the Seminary and Graduate School
  • Participation: Engaged in the life of the Seminary and Graduate School through attendance at school events, advising sessions, in-service training, convocation, and commencement

Administration (50%)

Direction: Serve as the program director for the Doctor of Ministry degree program under the supervision of the Chair of the Church and Ministry Leadership Department (12 credits per year).

  • Systems Management: Build and oversee appropriate systems for the program
  • Application Assessment: Assess potential students for fit to the program
  • Research Processes: Maintain sustainable and clear processes for the research phase to equip students for success
  • Faculty Coaching: Support and advise adjunct faculty on curriculum development, online engagement, and student engagement
  • Residency Oversight: Manage the particulars related to residency, e.g. guest speakers, venues, travel arrangements, etc.
