Job Description:

This position exists for the purpose of enhancing our Scholarship Fund and related student scholarship activities in the Greenbelt, MD and Washington DC Region.

Candidates will meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in development
  • Demonstrated record of continuing education to stay abreast of changing development operations
  • Involvement in at least one professional association in one’s field of concentration

Candidates will need to possess the following skills:

Administrative

  • Solve problems within the scope of the job function
  • Question and explore more efficient ways of accomplishing the job function
  • Develop ways in which the different areas of the giving program can be enhanced
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality in handling all matters

Technical

  • Research skills to develop substantial gift support
  • Planning skills to develop a department plan
  • Communication skills - able to effectively communicate to various groups
  • Analysis skills for analyzing giving trends
  • Awareness of applicable laws and regulations
  • Relationship management skills in order to develop relationships with Friends of LBC

Candidates will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Direct Scholarship Fund, DC area with strategy and execution
  • Maintain communication strategy with Greenbelt region donors
  • Consult with Director of Special Giving, LBC Lancaster location on a regular basis
  • Plans donor appreciation functions
  • Assists with planning and managing the budget
