Maintenance Technician

Job Description:

This position exists for the purpose of supporting the facilities manager in meeting the college needs while improving the facilities through various maintenance duties such as, plumbing, carpentry, painting and electrical.

Candidates will meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license required

Candidates will need to possess the following skills:

Technical -

  • Troubleshoot and repair of lighting and other electrical components
  • Repair and installation of various types of plumbing fixtures
  • Repair and maintain drywall/paint, flooring and door components
Physical - The physical ability to use the body in primary type skills necessary to perform duties such as, but not limited to, the following:
  • Heavy lifting, carrying, and reaching high places
  • Working on roofs, ladders, and scaffolds
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics and basements
  • Proficient use of hand tools
  • Using power tools such as cordless drills, power saws, grinders and like equipment
  • Driving of vehicles and powered equipment such as lifts, tractors, backhoes, and snowplows
Organizational
  • Supervise student workers in all aspects of maintenance
  • Inspect various maintenance tasks
  • Planning and understanding written instructions such as work orders
  • Writing reports of actions taken and recommendations for manager
  • Proficient computer knowledge and skills

Perform and work closely with other members of Physical Plant and College staff and assist in other duties whenever called upon as needed for the good and welfare of the total college ministry.
