Job Description:

This position is responsible for providing leadership in the overall residence experience at LBC. This includes oversite of all residence halls and the direct supervision and training of Residence Directors, Resident Assistants, and Community Assistants. As an educator and member of the Student Life staff, this individual will also be responsible for creating safe and comfortable living environments and fostering active learning communities which promote academic, personal, and spiritual growth opportunities for all resident students.

Candidates will meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience supporting the needs of students; previous residence life experience preferred
  • Growing and dynamic Christian faith which is naturally communicated in words and actions
  • Knowledge of college student life and a sense of mission and commitment to the personal development of college students

Candidates will need to possess the following skills:

  • Proficient in Word, Outlook, and Excel; technologically savvy; understanding of social media
  • Leadership giftedness
  • High-level administrative and organization skills
  • Relational and approachable
  • Possess understanding of team dynamics
  • Perform in high-paced environment
  • Able to handle confidential matters

Candidates will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Select, train, supervise, and evaluate Residence Directors, Resident Assistants, and Community Assistants
  • Shepherd Residence Directors as they lead Resident Assistants and Community Assistants toward a premier student experience
  • Develop and implement programs that encourage positive, academically oriented and Christ-centered, community living
  • Support and promote student leadership and student groups in residence halls
  • Collaborate with faculty and other student services from across the institution to best support the overall needs of all students
  • Promote participation, among residential students, in academic and extracurricular activities
  • Administer discipline, with a restorative approach, for curfew and minor residence hall violations
  • Embrace an attitude of constant improvement, improving personally and developing others
  • Oversee, request maintenance, and improve the campus residence halls with assistance from Physical Plant
  •  Assign housing for all resident students, distribute and collect keys, and supervise resident check-in and check-out procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
