Job Description:

The Student Support Specialist will be housed at the front desk in the Charles Frey Academic Center. This position provides the initial point of contact for students and guests as well as answering calls for Lancaster Bible College. This position is responsible for facilitating student access to key campus services, in the areas of student billing, financial aid and registrar’s office.

Candidates will meet the following requirements:

  • Associate degree and/or two years’ experience in a business office, preferably in an academic setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in non-profit, educational environment preferred

Candidates will need to possess the following skills:

  • A servant mindset and people centered dedication and focus
  • Work experience in a professional setting
  • Ability to multi task
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented
  • Strong communication skills, particularly with adult learners
  • Self-starter, flexible and able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment to meet common goals
  • Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Ability to generate and/or download reports and files
  • Demonstrated competence with software
  • Ability to calculate balances and percentages

Candidates will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Directs the flow of calls and visitors – Ensure all calls are answered satisfactorily and professionally and all visitors/students/staff are pleasantly greeted and directed within the campus community

Student Billing Responsibilities

  • Assist with management of accelerated student’s billing (coordinate with financial aid and
  • registrar’s office)
  • Knowledge and understanding of payment options and due dates
  • Assist with tracking and collection of positive balances
  • Management of student payment plan process
  • Fulfill other administrative and supporting roles within the Solution Center
  • Provide assistance and answer routine student questions or determine appropriate routing
  • Perform general office duties
  • Post checks to student ledger
  • Input data in CampusVue
  • Add/remove financial holds
  • Add service fee and monthly late fees
  • Make phone calls/send emails to students regarding student accounts (items needed to process financial aid, past due accounts, etc.)
  • Assist Financial Aid office as needed
  • Assist Registrar’s office as needed

Assist in other duties whenever called upon as needed for the good and welfare of the total College ministry.
