Part-Time Department Assistant (Doctoral)

This part-time position exists to provide administrative support, organizational assistance, and leadership to the Doctoral Degrees housed within the Church and Ministry Leadership Department.

Candidates will meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in administrative support
  • Prefer 5 years’ experience in administrative support
  • Demonstrated experience in a professional, multitask environment
  • Some experience in a non-profit higher education environment is a plus
  • Ability to connect with and relate to local and regional ministry leaders.

Candidates will need to possess the following skills:

  • The ability to maturely and creatively assist in creating a culture of professional advancement.
  • The ability to work in a team context within the Department of Church & Ministry Leadership and the Directors of both the PhD in Leadership and Doctor of Ministry degrees.
  • Computer proficiency required in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other design oriented programs a plus.
  • Prefer experience in CampusVue and eCampus.
  • Typing skills 55 wpm.
  • Office machinery operations
  • Multi-line phone experience.
  • Strong editing and proofing skills.
  • Self-starter, detailed-oriented, and able to handle confidential matters.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic departmental budgeting and administration.

Candidates will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Doctoral adjunct liaison.
  • Assisting Doctoral adjuncts in their courses, both online and in person.
  • Manage and prepare students for hearings, namely signature pages, checklists, and scheduling.
  • Overseeing the essential steps from pre-hearing to binding.
  • Overall administrative assistance for both the PhD in Leadership and the Doctor of Ministry programs.
  • Assist in reaching out to generated leads of future students by making contact as a touch point to answer any questions about the respective program.
  • Provide leadership to new student orientation.
  • Guide students through the process from acceptance to the start of classes, courses, orientation, and Schoology.
  • Overseeing digital and physical presence for students in relation to course work, hearings, comps, and defense.
  • Arranging specific meetings with students both digitally and physically.
  • Be in consistent weekly contact with the Directors of PhD in Leadership and the Doctor of Ministry programs.
  • Other various general administrative duties as needed.
