Second Shift Custodial Technician

Full-time, Hourly Staff

Location: Lancaster, PA

 

This position exists to perform the duties of a custodian in order to provide janitorial duties to College facilities as well as general maintenance and supervision to our student work force. This position calls for the individual to work primarily Monday-Friday from 12-8 pm (adjusted 2nd shift), and meet but not exceed 40 hours per week.

Candidates will meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 1-2 years janitorial or custodial experience in maintenance field
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required

Candidates will need to possess the following skills:

  • Reading and understanding written and verbal instructions such as work orders instruction manuals and MSDS forms
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Writing reports of actions taken and recommendations for a Manager
  • Organized and detailed in professional and personal presentation

Physical – The physical ability to use the body in primary type skills necessary to perform duties such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to reach high places and climb ladders
  • Cleaning and mixing chemicals
  • Using floor and carpet cleaning machines
  • Safely operate vehicles and other job related equipment
  • The hours are primarily from 12–8 pm (but not limited to as such)

Candidates will be responsible for the following tasks:

Organizational

  • Maintain cleanliness and stock for the housekeeping supply closet and assist with inventory and ordering supplies
  • Maintain cleanliness and stock for the housekeeping vehicle
  • Provide quality control inspections on buildings and communicate problems with Manager and student supervisors and workers
  • Assist with preparing the housekeeping schedule
  • Provide training and supervision to the housekeeping staff
  • Assist in meetings with housekeeping staff
  • Attend Physical Plant team meetings and meet with Housekeeping Manager on a weekly basis

Housekeeping

  • Maintain campus buildings through regular cleaning, trash removal, processing recycled goods, and stocking of supply closets
  • Perform quality control checks daily of buildings
  • Report facility concerns to Manager in a timely manner
  • Create new work orders and complete assigned work orders in a timely manner
  • Perform floor maintenance that includes hard surface and carpet care treatment routinely
  • Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; burnishers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.

Miscellaneous

  • Support the special needs during and after campus events
  • Respond with the department to inclement weather needs
  • Attend to emergencies when necessary

 

Assist in other duties whenever called upon as needed for the good and welfare of the total College ministry.
