Staff Accountant

Department: Business Office

Location: Lancaster, PA

 

The position will assist with the daily business operations of Lancaster Bible College. Business Office serves as a support role for departments within the college and the Business Office interacts with students and vendors of the college. Functions of the Business Office includes: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Student Accounts, Budgeting, Payroll and Investments.

Education/Experience:

  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance (required)
  • 1-3 years of experience of comparable accounting history, prior work history within non-profit accounting or higher education, knowledge of Blackbaud Financial Edge, proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Candidates will meet the following requirements:

  • High attention to detail
  • Critical thinking
  • Ability to troubleshoot
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in: Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word and ability to learn new software
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and with teams
  • Possess evidence of “goal-oriented” performance

Primary Duties of Position:

  • Financial reporting
  • Analyzing monthly budgets
  • Assisting in development of annual budget
  • Procurement and purchasing
  • Completion of annual surveys and reporting to outside agencies
  • Assisting with investments, annuities and endowment fund
  • Knowledge of numerous processes within the Business Office
  • Serves as back up for accounts payable, accounts receivable and billing
  • Assisting with month end reporting and general ledger entry
  • Assisting with analyzing and overseeing cash controls
  • Reconciliation of accounts each month
  • Assisting with annual audit
  • Processing corporate purchases made with college issued credit cards
  • Preparation of daily journal entries and adjustments

Secondary Duties of Position:

  • Fulfill other administrative and supporting roles within the Business Office
