Do you want to become a teacher? We prepare students to be professional educators who do much more than simply teach the curriculum. Our students graduate equipped to care for the whole child: mind, heart and soul. Here are five reasons why you should study elementary education or middle level education at Lancaster Bible College | Capital Seminary & Graduate School.
1. You’ll Be in the Field Starting in Your First Year
The best way to figure out if teaching is the right career is to spend time in classrooms with kids, right? That’s what we thought too. Not only that, but our faculty members actually go and visit our student teachers in their classrooms every week, offering helpful feedback and encouragement to our up-and-coming educators.
2. The Bible is Integrated into Every Class You Take
Lancaster Bible College is, after all, a Bible college! While not every class you’ll take is strictly a Bible class, a Christian worldview is central to our entire curriculum, regardless of your major. You can be sure that you’ll enjoy courses taught from the foundation of a biblical worldview by seasoned educators.
3. Get a Taste of Teaching at Christian Schools, Public Schools and More
There are a lot of options for teachers coming out of college. At LBC, we believe in giving our students ample opportunities in field placements to get exposed to diverse educational settings, including Christian schools, public schools, daycare, preschools and Montessori academies.
4. Our Graduates Gush over our Programs
Becca Foxwell, the 2016 Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year and a 2010 graduate of Lancaster Bible College, credits her experience as a student at LBC with her success in the classroom. You can hear more about her experience at LBC and as a teacher by watching the video clip below.
5. Get Certified to Teach in Public and Christian Schools
Not sure what type of school you want to teach in someday? At LBC, you’ll also receive a Pennsylvania Instructional I Certificate (prekindergarten through fourth grade) and an Association of Christian Schools International Standard Certificate (grades kindergarten through eighth) which gives you the opportunity to choose between teaching in a public or Christian school.
