Journey Teams: South Africa (1)

May 25, 2017

The South Africa team just finished its first full day at Aurora Primary School. Our students were kept busy as they started off the day by assisting the Aurora teachers in the classroom. Our students then had time to be on recess duty and then played with the kids after school. We had time to go back to the house for supper and then it was back to the school. This time we split the LBC students into teams and each team taught science to a class of students for an hour.

We will do this most evenings while we are here. The purpose of these evening classes is to prepare the students for their state mandated assessments. The extra preparation is necessary because the school lost two teachers this semester: one teacher broke her hip and another had to leave to go work on her farm. Since there is no money for substitute teachers, the Aurora students have had to double up their classes and are a bit behind. Praise God! Our team has really stepped up to the plate and put their teaching skills to the test! Please pray for us as we will have a busy time helping out at the school.
