Journey Teams: Southwest (1)

May 18, 2017

LBC's Journey Teams are groups of our college students who travel all over the world for short term missions trips to live out the Gospel message. For the next few weeks, we'll be chronicling their work here on our blog!

Hello from the Southwest Journey Team! After landing in Albuquerque and enjoying a delicious New Mexican meal, our team arrived safely at Broken Arrow Bible Ranch. On Sunday, we went to church at Zuni Christian Mission and then hiked a beautiful mesa nearby. We spent Monday working at Broken Arrow, took a break on the camp go-karts and finished the day with a campfire under the stars. We have visited several breathtaking hiking spots (El Morro, Pyramid Rock and Window Rock), as well as several local trading posts and the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary. Students have spent time in the classrooms at Rehoboth Christian School and Catherine A. Miller Elementary School, where they have been able to connect with students and teachers and learn a bit more about Navajo culture.

Our team has grown in unity, appreciation for the Navajo culture and awe of the beauty of creation surrounding us. We have also shared plenty of laughs and good meals with a church group from California who is also staying at the ranch.

For the remainder of our trip, our team will be spending time with local missionaries and ministries, working with students and teachers at Zuni Christian Mission School and interacting with locals in downtown Gallup. We will also visit the Painted Desert and hike down into the Grand Canyon. Please join us in praying for continued unity, growth and opportunities to engage with the people around us.
