Journey Teams: Southwest (2)

May 23, 2017

Hello again! On Friday, our team spent the day at the Zuni Christian Mission school, located in the heart of the Zuni Reservation. After receiving a tour of the school and surrounding area from Kathy, the school's principal, we spent our afternoon playing games outside with the students, where our college students had the opportunity to love and encourage them and provide support to the teachers. That evening, we returned to the school for a cookout with the teachers and their families, where we were able to encourage them and learn more about the work happening at ZCMS. We were so encouraged by their hospitality and strong sense of community! On Saturday, we visited a local flea market where several of our students had the opportunity to engage in conversations with locals, hiked the Churchrock trail and spent the evening at Broken Arrow Bible Camp.

On Sunday, we worshiped with a local church community in Gallup and then traveled to the Phil and Janelle Maycumber's house in Flagstaff where we had a great dinner and time of fellowship. The Maycumber's are missionaries with United Indian Mission where they work with various Native groups and seek to work alongside other believers to equip the local church. We learned about their work with the Navajos, as well as the Havasupai people, who live in the bottom of the Grand Canyon. After an early breakfast on Monday, our team left the Maycumber's to go to the Grand Canyon. We are so in awe of the beauty of creation around us! Today, after breakfast and a time of prayer with the Maycumber's, we visited Flagstaff Mission to the Navajos and are now on our way to their women's conference which will take place in a local church on the reservation.

Please join us in praying that our team will be an encouragement to the believers serving in this area, for the students and teachers we have encountered, and that God will provide our team with safe travels back to Pennsylvania!
