Learn How to Help the Hurting at This Seminar in Washington D.C.

by Kelsey Madas

Are you a ministry leader, pastor, military personnel or chaplain? Chances are you’ve dealt with people who were hurting or navigating trauma – and you might have felt ill-equipped to counsel them. Join us in Washington DC on March 20 for an event called How to Help the Hurting to prepare yourself to minister to the brokenhearted.

The seminar will be taught by retired Army chaplain Dr. John Wheatley (’80). In addition to being a graduate of Lancaster Bible College, he’s also an adjunct professor in the institution’s Doctor of Ministry program. His years of experience in dealing with people amidst the most defining and significant tragedies of their lives make him uniquely qualified to teach on this topic. He was even deployed to the Pentagon on 9/11. In a 2016 article for the Daily Beast, Wheatley was dubbed “The Man the Army Pays to Cry.”

The March 20th seminar, held at Martin’s Crosswinds in Greenbelt, Maryland, costs $10 per person and includes a buffet lunch. Recruiters will be on hand to talk with attendees interested in learning more about Capital Seminary & Graduate School’s chaplaincy programs and other master’s and doctoral programs.
