In their August 21 Lancaster Bible College | Capital Seminary & Graduate School's board of trustees meeting, long-term president Dr. Peter W. Teague announced his plan to retire from the presidency on August 1, 2019 upon completion of his 20th year as lead servant of LBC. He is the third longest-serving seated president of the 97 independent colleges and universities in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. During Teague’s 20-year presidency, Lancaster Bible College has tripled in size, now at three doctoral programs, seven master’s including a seminary program, and 25 undergraduate majors, grown from its Manheim Township location to five locations in four states and an initiative in Uganda, expanded the campus with 17 major building projects including a learning commons that friends of LBC insisted on naming in his honor, and launched online education. Having achieved national recognitions from the Association of Biblical Higher Education to The Wall Street Journal, Lancaster Bible College has emerged from a quiet existence to one of growing prominence.

As the college celebrates its 85th anniversary year, Teague was quick to give credit where it is due. “I am grateful for every day that the Lord has given me the tremendous opportunity to be a small part of this grand timeline. I do not have words to express my overwhelming sense of gratitude for the honor and privilege that has been mine to serve as President. All glory is His.” Teague added, “I step away from the presidency while I am still healthy and energized by my responsibilities.”

Teague includes among his greatest joys a 45-year (and counting) marriage to his wife and co-servant in ministry, Paulette, their four children and spouses, and 10 grandchildren.

LBC board of trustees chair Dr. Philip Clemens noted, “It is uncommon for an institution of this era to enjoy such a tenured president, the third longest among all private college peers in Pennsylvania. We have been blessed as a college, and I know each of us has been blessed by the personhood and godly example of Peter. He is among the finest leaders where it has been my privilege to serve as a board chair.”

The board of trustees has established a presidential search committee as the college seeks its next president.
