Pianist Xun Pan and five members of the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra will present an evening of music to close out the 2025 Lancaster International Piano Festival. The 7:30 p.m. performance on April 26, 2025, is set for the Great Hall of the Trust Performing Arts Center located at 37 N. Market Street in downtown Lancaster.

The musicians will perform “Piano Quintet in A major, D. 667, ‘Trout’” by Franz Schubert and “Piano Quintet No. 2 in A major, Op. 81” by Antonín Dvořák.

One of the founding members and the co-artistic director of the Lancaster International Piano Festival, renowned pianist and chamber musician Xun Pan teaches at Millersville University and is a visiting professor at many universities and conservatories in China. The Steinway Artist completed a 15-city concert tour in 30 days in China in May/June 2024 and was inducted into the Steinway & Sons Teacher Hall of Fame in 2023. Pan is the Director of Keyboard Studies of The Tell School of Music at Millersville and has also taught master classes at Manhattan School of Music, Boston University, Frost School of Music at University of Miami, University of West Florida, The Catholic University of America, Dartmouth College, Mozarteum University (Austria), Bellini Music Institute (Italy), Tbilisi State Conservatoire (Georgia) and others. Pan performed the entire 32 piano sonatas, 10 piano/violin sonatas, eight piano/cello works and 13 piano trios of Beethoven to celebrate the 250th anniversary of his birth in 2020.

From LSO, Dr. Pan will be joined by Rachel Segal and Dana Allaband on violin, Petula Perdikis on viola, Sara Male on cello and Brent Edmondson on double bass.

A Philadelphia native, Rachel Segal is a multi-genre violinist, arranger and educator who was born into an artistic and musical family. Having spent her early years in rigorous study, she began traveling internationally at a young age, and as a result, has pushed her own margins of creativity to include everything from Baroque to hip-hop. She has appeared on stage with musicians ranging from Itzhak Perlman to Earth, Wind & Fire and has commissioned, premiered and performed many works of contemporary composers. Today, Segal is the principal violinist of INSCAPE Chamber Orchestra and performs regularly with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, PostClassical Ensemble, Opera Philadelphia, Philadelphia Ballet, Orchestra 2001, Network for New Music and other professional ensembles. She is also the founder of The Primavera Fund, whose mission is to mentor and financially support the musical endeavors of young, underserved musicians in Philadelphia.

Dana Allaband received degrees from West Chester University and the University of Maryland. She has concertized in Venezuela, Romania, Cameroon, Carnegie Hall and various universities across the country. She has been principal second violinist of the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra for over a decade and has served as concertmaster with Southwest Florida Symphony, Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra, Kennett Symphony and Anthracite Philharmonic. Allaband has also performed as an orchestral musician with Reading Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Annapolis Symphony and Pennsylvania Sinfonia. As an active chamber musician, she is a violinist with the Gabriel Chamber Ensemble, Monteverde String Quartet, Mill Race Collective and was a member of Elysian Camerata for many years. Expressing her interest in various genres of music, Allaband has performed rock music with Rachel Barton Pine and tango music with Trifilio Tango. She is the violinist in One Alternative and the Assistant Director of Sunday Sinfonia at Albright College.

Petula Perdikis, a Canadian citizen from Greek and Italian immigrants, began playing the violin at age 10 and switched to viola at 17. She earned degrees from West Chester University and the Eastman School of Music, after which she joined the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, where she toured England and Scotland and played in a sold-out performance with Gloria Estefan. Petula won positions with the Delaware Symphony, Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra and Hudson Valley Philharmonic and is LSO’s principal violist. She’s also played with Frank Sinatra Jr., Michael Buble, Evanescence, Hanson Brothers, Josh Groban, Little River Band, Wayne Newton, Neil Sedaka, Steve Lawrence and Eddie Gorme, Regis Philbin, Connie Francis, Johnny Mathis, Spike Lee, Donna Summer, Ben Folds, Savion Glover, Yo Yo Ma, Placido Domingo, Peter Gabriel, Celtic Woman and Julie Andrews, among others. The voting member of the Grammys now teaches at Wilmington Christian School and plays with the group Sophisticated Strings.

Sara Male earned degrees from Victoria Conservatory of Music in Canada, Rutgers University and Mannes College of Music in New York City. She is a sought-after chamber music recitalist and soloist, having performed in major venues in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia. The founding cellist of the Lancaster-based Newstead Trio from 1993-2018, Male also collaborates in chamber music programs with her husband and violist Peter Kenote, a member of the New York Philharmonic. She is principal cellist of the York Symphony Orchestra, assistant principal cellist of LSO and Chair of the LSO Board of Directors. She regularly performs with the Reading Symphony, Kennet Symphony and Harrisburg Symphony. Male is Senior Adjunct Assistant Professor of Cello at Franklin & Marshall College. Also a private teacher, she has directed Chamber Music Programs and was involved in the successful accreditation to the National Association of Schools of Music for the Pennsylvania Academy of Music.

Brent Edmondson has been Principal Bass of the Lancaster Symphony since 2011 and a member of the Delaware Symphony Orchestra bass section since 2017. In addition to orchestral playing, he is a member of The Rock Orchestra, an international touring ensemble for which he also acts as U.S. contractor. Edmondson has performed with ensembles including the Philadelphia Orchestra throughout China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States. Also a composer for film and TV, Edmondson’s recent credits including the score for feature film “Scars of Our Hands,” additional music for feature films “Rebel Ridge” (a Netflix #1), “Marmalade” and “Toxic Avenger,” among others. His music and performances can be heard on the Netflix series “Night Stalker,” formerly ranked No. 1 on the streaming service. He also created the SMC String Quintet to perform his compositions and arrangements.
