FAQs

What to Bring
  • • Since you will get wet during the event, a dry wicking fabric such as Under Armor will give you the most comfort.
  • • A running shoe with a good tread will help you in the mud. Your shoes will get muddy, so if you wear a washable pair, clean-up will be easier. No shoes with spikes, like football or golf cleats, may be worn.
  • • A cheap pair of wide-receiver style gloves can be helpful for the climbing obstacles.
  • • Dry bag check is available to all participants at no extra charge at the main tent.
What else is happening at this event?

There’s lots of great food available for purchase, a live DJ and a chance to exchange war stories. Let the kiddos jump around in our complimentary bounce house. Sorry - NO alcohol, smoking, or pets are permitted.

Is there a place that I can get rinsed off and cleaned up?

Yes, the Manheim Township fire department will be on hand to hose you off! Basic men’s and women’s changing facilities will be located in tents. There is also the option of getting a hot shower here on campus in our Horst Athletic Center ($5 if you prepay through Active.com or $7 on the day of the race).

Can I get a refund? I can’t make it that day or have changed my mind.

Sorry, no direct refunds are available, although a new participant can self-edit for someone preregistered for free online. See active.com for more about this service.

Whether you run alone or with friends, there is always someone to lend a hand.

Hear from a runner:

"Shadey’s Rugged Run is a really fun and challenging experience. It is really special to run alongside others, whether you know them or not, because everyone is so willing to give advice and lend a hand through the obstacles. I can’t wait to run Shadey’s again next year!" - Brianne, Middletown, PA
