Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

Bachelor of Science

This major prepares students to become English language teachers for college-age and adult learners. Students graduate with the professional skills and spiritual maturity necessary to build strong ministry relationships within an intercultural community. Through fieldwork tailored to each student’s ministry passions and gifts, students receive hands-on English teaching experience, both locally and internationally, under the mentorship of experienced teachers. This hands-on training allows students to develop their confidence and skills as they gradually assume full classroom teaching responsibilities.

Your training in this major will prepare you for professional English teaching positions internationally, which may include teaching at high schools, colleges or universities, community language centers, English camps, specialized business/corporate language schools, or through mission agencies. Graduates who choose to work in the U.S. may find opportunities to serve through church-based English language ministries, adult workplace training courses, refugee/immigrant resettlement programs, advocacy organizations, or literacy councils.
