Lancaster Bible College Names 50th Anniversary Men’s Soccer Team

by Zach Freeman

Lancaster Bible College is in the midst of its 50th men’s soccer season, and to celebrate the occasion, LBC has named a 50th Anniversary Team and will honor those selected with a dinner and celebration prior to the Saturday, Oct. 22 contest against Gallaudet.

LBC’s Men’s Soccer 50th Anniversary Team was chosen by a panel of staff, former coaches and Athletic Department representatives. The team is a collection of players throughout the program’s 50 years whose impact was felt both on and off the field. Whether they were winning games and championships or representing the school to enlarge the college’s platform to proclaim Christ, these 22 individuals have played a key role in the program’s growth over the past half-century.

Of these 22 players, three were goalkeepers, seven played defense, and 12 played in the midfield or at forward. The 19 field players chosen have accounted for 418 of the 1,851 goals the program has ever scored, roughly 22.6% of the goals put past opposing teams. The three goalkeepers have accounted for 27 shutouts and have combined for 63 wins. These alumni were not only terrific soccer players during their collegiate years, but have made a difference for the kingdom of God since leaving Lancaster Bible College.

The team will be honored at 7 p.m. Oct. 22 during pre-game festivities. Those who cannot make the game can watch a live broadcast of the pregame festivities on the Chargers Sports Network.
