What does online look like at LBC’s doctoral level?

At Lancaster Bible College’s doctoral level, online courses either span the traditional 16-week semester or an 8-week subterm  and include the following key components:

Complete learning activities & assignments online within Canvas, our learning management system.

Faculty-Led Instruction

Receive class instruction asynchronously and exclusively within Canvas. Most online courses have a live meeting component where students either attend live (synchronously) or watch the recorded meeting.

Residency Requirement

Through face-to-face or virtual learning experiences students collaborate and network with their cohort and faculty.

Doctoral Programs LBC Offers

Seminary Programs Credits Course Length Residency Requirements
Biblical Studies (PhD) 60 credits 16 weeks Students will participate in 3 face-to-face times a year for one week (6 full days) for a total of three weeks for the entire year.
Leadership (PhD) 60 credits 16 weeks Students will participate in 2 face-to-face times a year for one week (6 full days) for a total of 2 weeks for the entire year.
Ministry (DMin) 34 credits 16 weeks Students will participate in 18 days of synchronous learning via Zoom from the student’s physical location as the residency requirement. This means the student will need to have computer technology, time off work, etc. to participate fully in the synchronous residencies.
