All Servant Stage productions are pay-what-you-will with a mission to “serve our community with outstanding musical and theatrical experiences; make the arts accessible to all, especially people with financial or physical limitations; provide a creative outlet for artists in our community to develop and share their talents; create performances that inspire, educate, challenge, and entertain; and to have fun while doing it!”

Thanks to Servant Stage’s dedication to bringing uplifting theatre to the Lancaster, Pa., area, many LBC students, alumni, faculty and staff regularly participate in the company’s productions. Those who are part of “Fiddler on the Roof,” the largest production in Servant Stage history, include the following:

  • Stephen Atherholt, Director of Musical Theatre, playing Mordcha / understudy for Tevye
  • Britt Jarkowsky (’21), a Musical Theatre major, playing Tzeitel
  • Jefferson Johnson (’27), Musical Theatre, part of the ensemble
  • Prescott Kelsey (’20), LBC’s Event Technology Coordinator, serving as Audio Designer
  • Elsa Rogers (’25), Musical Theatre, playing Chava
  • Seth Snyder (’27), Musical Theatre, ensemble / understudy for Nahum
  • Sarah Zeigler (’22), a Music major, in the understudy role of the Fiddler plus ensemble swing

According to Servant Stage, “Touching audiences worldwide with its humor, warmth and honesty, ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores. This timeless, universal show is a musical theatre ‘Tradition!’”

Atherholt has enjoyed working alongside his wife, children and students for the production.

“I have the privilege of playing Tevya for a good number of runs this year, and the best part is I get to do it with my family,” Atherholt shared. “Additionally, a number of my students have been cast in lead and supporting roles. This is the first time I’ve had the honor of performing alongside my students, and it has been a blast. They are doing so well, and I couldn’t be more proud.”
