Do you love helping others? Do you have an interest in social services, adoption, serving the homeless or serving and advocating for the poor and brokenhearted? Then social work may be the right area of study for you.

But why should you study social work at a Christian college? Does it really make a difference? Here are the top five reasons why you should study social work at Lancaster Bible College.

1. We were ranked 4 on a list of the Top 25 Christian Colleges for a Social Work Degree Program.
The 2015 study considered factors like average tuition, return on investment, student to faculty ratio and accreditation – and our program came out in the top 5!

2. Integrate your Christian faith into your career.
Our uniquely structured program combines Bible classes, classroom experience and work in an intensive field education experience that develops well-rounded Christian students and social workers. Studying the Bible and the way Jesus treated “the least of these” informs our view on the person as whole. By integrating a biblical worldview into the curriculum we teach in the classroom and the way we live out our faith, students engage the head, heart and hands in preparation to serve others.

3. Our social work program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE) Commission on Accreditation.
This means you’ll graduate with a bachelor of social work (BSW degree). Not all social work programs offer BSW degrees. The accreditation positions our students to qualify for an Advanced Standing status to complete a master in social work degree in one year – a huge benefit to our graduates!

4. Learn from caring Christian practitioners and social workers.
Our professors are a diverse group who come from many different backgrounds and careers – from social work jobs as caseworkers, advocating for vulnerable populations, congregational social worker to outpatient counselors. Their years of experience in the field and as dedicated followers of Christ truly set them apart. Ask our graduates and they’ll tell you just how much the love learning under their tutelage!

5. Our social work program had a 100% placement rate in 2015.
That means that all of our graduates in 2015 found job in the social work field or entered into a graduate program following graduation.
