We are honored that you are considering enrolling in a master’s degree program or graduate certificate at Capital Seminary & Graduate School! We are confident that your seminary or graduate study at Capital will be a transformative experience for you.

Below are the four steps needed to complete your admissions portfolio. As you prepare your application package for submission, we’ve provided the checklist below to assist you in tracking your application progress. These items may be submitted as individual pieces. You will be contacted via email every time we receive one of your documents, so you can know right where you are in the process. After you’ve sent all the requested materials, your application will be reviewed for admission.

Complete the Application.
After we receive your application form, we will respond by email to confirm receipt of the application and to remind you of the other application pieces that are required.

Submit $40 application fee.

Write an autobiographical essay statement.

Submit an autobiographical essay, of approximately 1,000 words, describing your salvation experience and ministry goals using these instructions. Please utilize this autobiographical essay to demonstrate your writing ability. This autobiographical essay should include the following:

  • Explain Christ’s saving work in your life. Please share the details of your conversion experience and use scripture to explain your experience.
  • Explain how God has used people and circumstances in your life to grow your faith.
  • Describe your current spiritual disciplines including evangelism, Bible study, prayer and ministry service.
  • Share your current employment situation, your future vocational goals, and why you have chosen to apply to Capital Seminary & Graduate School.
  • In the last 5 years, other than the Bible, what author or book has most influenced your faith? Using your choice of APA or MLA style to cite your source, please support your response with a quote from the book.

Request References.
Ask two people (three if you are applying to the Consulting Resource Teacher Program) who are qualified to evaluate your ministry/work experience and ministry/work potential to complete a reference form on your behalf.

Request Official Transcripts.
Please request transcripts from the institutions through which degrees have been awarded. These need to be sent to Capital Seminary & Graduate School directly from the degree granting institution(s) via email to or mailed (in a sealed envelope) to: Capital Seminary & Graduate School, 901 Eden Road, Lancaster, PA 17601.

All International Applicants must demonstrate a satisfactory level of English proficiency.

This  can be done by taking the TOEFL exam at Make sure to add our school code: 2388. International applicants are required to score a minimum of 79 on the exam.

Upon completion of your admission portfolio, you will be considered for an admission interview, to be scheduled by our staff or faculty.

STEP 2 – Autobiographical Essay

As evidence of effective, accurate, and professional writing and adherence to directions, submit a ~1,000-word autobiographical essay including the following:

  • The details of your conversion experience. Explain Christ’s saving work in your life. Use Scripture to explain your experience.
  • Evidence of your growing faith. Explain how God has used people and circumstances in your life to grow you in spiritual maturity.
  • A description of your current spiritual disciplines including evangelism, Bible study, prayer, and ministry service.
  • The author(s) and/or book(s) (other than the Bible) that have most influenced your faith in the last 5 years. Use APA or MLA format to cite your source and support your response with at least one quote from the book(s).
