Total Percussion Seminar

presented by Lancaster Bible College

Our LBC Total Percussion Seminar is designed for the student percussionist to strengthen musicianship and fundamental percussion technique. The five-day event includes clinics, master classes and hands-on instruction on concert percussion, drum set, world drumming, music technology and audition preparation. Students will also take part in percussion ensemble and marching percussion rehearsals throughout the week, and they will present a showcase performance open to the public at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 25.

Who should attend?

This seminar is open to individuals 14 years and up. This event is ideal for middle school, high school and college percussionists. Adult percussionists are also welcome to join.

Cost: $215

Includes: hands-on instruction, ensemble rehearsals, materials, snacks and door prizes! All registrations received before April 30, will be automatically entered for a special door-prize to be drawn during the showcase performance.

Guest Artists & Clinicians

We are excited to be able to expose our students to these two special artists.

Gabriel Staznik is a freelance percussionist, educator and arranger residing in the Washington, D.C. area. He is currently the drummer in Max Impact, the premier rock band of the United States Air Force, where he is also the non-commissioned officer in charge of Max Impact Operations.

Gabriel has performed and recorded with Grammy, Emmy, and Tony award-winning artists. He tours nationally and abroad with the legendary Chubby Checker (The Twist!) and has performed on-stage with artists including Kristen Chenoweth (Broadway/Film), Chris Janson, Kellie Pickler, Drake White, Mike Ryan, Jessie James Decker, James Torme, NBC’s The Voice contestants James Wolpert and Cole Vosbury, and ABC’s American Idol contestants Nalani Quintello and Jax.

Matt Penland is a percussion performer, educator, and arranger based out of Washington, D.C. where he is a percussionist in the U.S. Air Force Band. Matt is also on the instructional staff for The Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps and arranges music for several marching percussion groups across the country, including Music City Drum Corps, Guardians Drum Corps and the Hawthorne Caballeros.

Dr. Willis M. Rapp is a Yamaha Concert Percussionist specializing in timpani and orchestral percussion, a published author with over 500 publications to his credit, and the conductor of the Reading Pops Orchestra since 2000.  Dr. Rapp holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education and a Master of Music in Music Education from West Chester University in Pennsylvania, PA. He also holds a Diploma of Fine Arts in Conducting from the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Instrumental Conducting from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. Dr. Rapp has served on the faculty of Millersville University, Southeastern Louisiana University, Iowa State University and Kutztown University, where he retired in 2013 with the distinction of Professor Emeritus. With one exception, he was the youngest student to have studied timpani and orchestral repertoire with Fred D. Hinger, legendary timpanist for The Philadelphia Orchestra and Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.
