7 Churches You Didn’t Know Were Pastored by LBC Grads

by Kelsey Madas

Since the very inception of Lancaster Bible College, we’ve been training up the next generation of Christian leaders. So naturally, we’ve sent out a lot of graduates who went on to become pastors, ministry leaders and the like who’ve gone on to serve in church both big and small. So, without further ado, here’s an informal list of graduates from Lancaster Bible College | Capital Seminary & Graduate School who are serving as pastors around the country and right here in Lancaster County.

1.  Grace Baptist Church of Lancaster (PA): This Lancaster PA church is pastored by Greg Funk (’80), alumnus of LBC who studied in our bible studies program.

2. Grace Baptist Church of Millersville (PA): The associate pastor of this church is Scott Harrison (’17) who earned his bachelor’s degree in biblical studies from the college.

3. Harvest Community Church (MD): Lead by LBC graduate Matthew Gullion (’17) who studied in our Master of Arts in Ministry program, he’s has spent a large part of his career in public safety. His congregation is located in Fallston, Maryland. If you’re interested in learning more about Gullion’s life and ministry, check out this 2017 piece in The Baltimore Sun.

4. Church of the City (TN): A recent doctoral graduate, Darren Whitehead (’18) leads the Franklin, Tennessee campus of Church of the City. Whitehead also co-authored a book with Grammy-award winning artist Christ Tomlin in 2017 and is touring with him in 2019. You can learn more about that here.

5. Church of the City (NY) Jon Tyson is a 2015 graduate with a master’s degree in church planting and current doctoral student. He’s the lead pastor of this blossoming church in the heart of NYC.

6. Proclamation Presbyterian Church (PA): This congregation is headed up by 1995 alumnus Troy De Bruin and is located in Mount Joy, PA.

7. Kingsley Community Church (PA): This rural congregation is shepherded by Rev. James Madas (’08), a graduate of Capital Seminary & Graduate School’s Master of Arts in Ministry program. The church is located in Kingsley, PA.

As we mentioned, this list is not exhaustive. Who did we miss? We’d love to know where our alumni are serving Christ! Drop the names of other LBC grads who are pastors, along with where they’re ministering, in the comments below.
